A Warm Welcome to the Alkerden Academy Team

On Thursday, 10th July, we were delighted to officially welcome the founding staff of Alkerden Academy. This passionate and talented team will play a vital role in shaping the culture, vision, and direction of our school as we prepare to open our doors to students in September.

The induction day was led by our Co-Heads, Mrs Prest and Mrs Carey, who used Kagan cooperative learning principles to help the team get to know one another and begin forming strong, collaborative relationships. Through interactive and team-based activities, a spirit of unity and shared purpose quickly began to emerge.

Staff were then introduced to the wider Aletheia Academies Trust through sessions delivered by Mrs Armstrong, Trust Improvement Officer for CPD & Safeguarding, and Mrs Barker-Platt, Director of People and Culture. They spoke about the Trust’s ethos, commitment to staff development, and the values that guide our work with young people.

We were also honoured to welcome Mr Carey, CEO of the Trust, who delivered an inspiring address. He shared the story behind the Trust’s formation, our ‘why’, and responded to thoughtful questions from staff. His reflections brought clarity, purpose, and a deeper sense of belonging to the day.

The day concluded with visits to both our permanent building site and the temporary site where the school will open in September. These visits gave staff a first glimpse of their future learning environments and sparked excitement as they began to visualise the space they would soon call home.
