Transitioning to Secondary School

We work in partnership with our local primary schools to ensure that the Year 6 to 7 transition process is the most welcoming; preparing our new students for a successful start in September. We aim to ensure the Family Information Evening and Student Transition Day provides students with the experiences and opportunities that will build their confidence in making the leap from the primary to the secondary phase. We provide transition resources and guidance to both parents and students so that they arrive in September equipped with the tools and knowledge to settle into the secondary phase.

A teacher or representative from Alkerden will be visiting the pupils' current primary schools in Term 6.

Family Information Evening

Our Family Information Evening will be held on Monday 30th June 2025 from 18:30 - 19:30.

This is an informative evening where the Co-Heads of School will share the values of the school and talk about the expectations, systems and structures of daily life at Alkerden C of E Academy.

The meeting will be held at Saint George's C of E Primary Phase* and your child is also welcome to attend. To ensure we can accommodate everybody, please limit the number of family members where possible.

Our uniform provider, TFS, will be present during the session to assist with any queries you may have or to help place uniform orders. They will be available to ensure that you have all the information you need regarding the uniform and can facilitate any purchases directly on the day.

We look forward to seeing you there!

*Please note: This takes place at Saint George's C of E Primary Phase, Westcott Avenue, Gravesend, DA11 7HP

Student Transition Days

Transition Days have been arranged for Thursday 3rd July 2025 and Friday 4th July 2025. Students will only attend one of those days. We will inform you of which in advance.

These will be whole-day events taking place at Castle Hill Community Centre** from 09:30 to 14:30.

This event will be an embodiment of our school vision - we want our first cohort to meet each other, collaborate and feel a sense of belonging and purpose together. We will share information about the school, find out from students what they believe Alkerden will be and work as a team to begin to shape our journey together. There will be opportunities for questions, to meet staff and to take a walk to the new school site.

We can't wait to get together with the community that will become Alkerden CE Academy!

**Address: Castle Hill Community Centre, Cherry Orchard Road, Ebbsfleet Valley, Swanscombe, DA10 1BR
